MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, April 30 (PIA) --- The People’s Day in Lanao del Sur which aims to deliver free services to the public commenced on April 29, at the Provincial Capitol Gym, this city.
The two-day activity, spearheaded by the Provincial Government in partnership with the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Regional Government, bears the theme “Get Involved, Be a Part of the Reform; Stay Connected & Avail of ARMM Programs and Services.”
During the opening ceremony, Provincial Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. urged all the government agencies in the province to continue serving the public up to the best of their abilities and capacities.
He called on the public to avail of the free services available. “Here are our government agencies who bring with them the services closer to you as one of our ways in realizing reform in our province and above all in the entire ARMM,” he said.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Lanao to remain calm and peaceful following the shooting incident in Wao which has claimed four lives and wounding nine others. “Tulongan po natin ang ating mga kapatid, Muslim man o kristyano, sa pamamagitan ng pagtigil ng pagbibigay ng maling impormasyon sapagkat hindi giyera ang solusyon sa pangyayari.,” he said.
He reiterated that he, along with fellow governors in ARMM, is against war.
The People’s Day is one of the Regional and Provincial Government’s mechanisms in establishing good governance and transparency to the public.
Agencies that are participating the two-day event are DAR, DILG, DSWD, DepEd, DENR, DAF, DOH-IPHO, DTI, RCBW, DOLE, TESDA, RHRC, DPWH, DOST, and BFAR.
Services being offered include marketing services assistance, dental services, technical consultancy, legal consultancy services, medical check-up consultancy, circumcision (tuli), online business name registration, entrepreneurial and business consultation, free training services, and registration of cooperatives, among others.
Other activities include Job Fair, on-the-spot essay writing, and poster making contest, photo gallery and booth display of agencies programs and projects.
Some non-government organizations also participated in the booth display showcasing their accomplishments and campaigns. (JNY/APB/PIA-100
